Credit for Your Military Service
Army, Navy, National Guard, Marine Corp, Coast Guard (including Reserves)
To receive credit for your military service, servicemembers and veterans must submit an official Joint Service Transcript (JST). Visit HERE, and request for your transcript to be sent to EKU electronically. Be advised that transcripts sent electronically may be processed faster than paper transcripts sent via US Mail.
Air Force veterans and servicemembers should click HERE to request their Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript to receive military credit. CCAF credit hours will be processed by the EKU Registrar’s Office in the same manner as civilian college transcripts.
Processing and Evaluation
All Joint Service Transcripts are processed as quickly as possible in the order they are received. Military credits from Joint Service Transcripts will initially be recorded on your degree audit as “N” courses (Not Yet Evaluated). All military coursework will be evaluated by academic departments within approximately two weeks of “N” courses appearing in Degreeworks (Note: Evaluation time may vary slightly based upon departmental workflow and staffing).
Once courses have been evaluated by the appropriate department, “N” courses will repopulate in Degreeworks as either direct equivalencies or as “X” courses. An “X” course identifier indicates that the course has been evaluated and has been deemed as not having a direct equivalency at EKU. These courses will be applied as free electives in Degreeworks.
New first-time freshmen, and transfer students with less than 30 civilian college credit hours are required to enroll in a Student Success Seminar in their first semester of enrollment at EKU. Military credits are recorded in the same manner as transfer credits. Thus, Joint Service Transcripts will not be processed until after the Add/Drop date to ensure that students are registered for this university requirement.
