Everett Eugene Snider
Everett Eugene Snider was born in Taylorsville, Kentucky in 1912. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College (now EKU) in 1936 with a BS degree in Mathematics. After graduation he taught in Spencer County, Kentucky. In 1940-42 he was the history and civics instructor and principal at Pikeville College Academy, in Pikeville, Kentucky. He left Pikeville in 1942 to bcome Superientendent of Spencer County Schools. He was in this position when he entered the Army. At a fifty year high school reunion in 1995 one of his former students said: "Mr. Snider taught us American History and then went on to make American History". On August 25, 1943 Everett Euguen Snider was was drafted into the service as a private. In May 1944 whe as killed in action at Anzio Italy. He was originally intered at the U.S. Military Cemetery at Nettuno, Italy. In 1948 his wife, Evelyn H. Snider, had his remains moved to Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, Kentucky.
